Day 1
Arrive At Paro
The flight into Bhutan takes you close to the great Himalayas, offering dazzling scenic views of some of worlds highest glacial peaks. As you enter Paro valley, you will sweep past forested hills with the silvery Pa Chu (Paro river) meandering down the valley below. Paro Dzong (fortress) and Ta Dzong (watchtower) on the hills above the town will be a fine sight. Chen-Ray Travel & Tours representative will receive you and will drive you to your hotel. After lunch visit Ta Dzong. Once a watchtower, built to defend Rinpung Dzong during inter-valley wars of the 17th century, Ta Dzong was inaugurated as Bhutans National Museum in 1968. Afterwards, drive or walk down a hillside trail to visit Rinpung Dzong, which has a long and fascinating history. Also visit Kyichu Lhakhang, a 7th century Monastery which is one of the oldest and most sacred shrines of the kingdom. Evening stroll in the town with traditional Bhutanese buildings with many shops which sells souvenirs. Dinner at your hotel. |

Day 2
Paro - Taktshang Hike - Thimphu
After breakfast, we Hike to Taktshang Monastery, one of the holiest and the most beautiful sites of Bhutan. Taktshang, the tigers lair, acquires its name from the legend of its foundation, when in the 8th Century Guru Rinpoche, widely revered as the second Buddha, arrived from Tibet flying across the mountains on the back of a tigress. Evening drive to Thimphu with sightseeing on the way. Dinner at your Hotel. |

Day 3
Thimphu
After breakfast, drive to Kuenselphodrang where worlds tallest Buddha Statue (169 feet) sits overlooking the Thimphu Valley. Enjoy the spectacular view of Thimphu city. Visit the memorial chorten (Stupa) located in the center of the City which was built in the memory of our beloved Third King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. After lunch, visit the zoo at Motithang to gaze upon Takin, the National animal of Bhutan. Drive upward towards BBS tower to view the Thimphu city opposite to Kuenselphodrang. Visit nunnery founded by 16th Drubthob Tshangthong Gyalpo in 1976. More than 40 nuns study Buddhism in this nunnery. Visit Zorichusum (meaning 13 arts and crafts) which is popularly known as the painting school. Students in this school learn traditional arts and crafts like painting, sculpture, wood carving, weaving and embroidery. Visit the National Library which consists of 2 buildings. On the ground floor of the old building is the largest book in the world and religious books on the upper floor. English books are kept on the ground floor in the new building. Evening free or visit the Craft Bazaar for Authentic Traditional Bhutanese handicrafts and souvenirs. |

Day 4
Thimphu - Punakha - Paro
After breakfast, we drive to Dochula Pass (3050m) which will take about 45 min. While at Dochula, one can witness hundreds of fluttering prayer flags surrounding 108 small Chortens (stupas). On a clear day one can enjoy the most spectacular and breathtaking views of the Bhutans Mountain ranges. (Gangkar Puensum. A drive to Punakha is about 2 hours from Dochula. Punakha Dzong, the former capital of Bhutan, now serving as the district administrative centerand also the winter residence of the Je Khenpo, the Chief Abbot, of the Monastic body. Punakha Dzong built was in 1637 and is beautifully located in between the two rivers called pho chu (male river) and mo chu (female river). Afternoon drive back to Paro, Dinner at your hotel. |
